Capitalism has done wonders to pull people out of poverty, sure. But it's also a reflection of democracy, too.

The problem that I and many others have with the current state of capitalism is the lack of regulation.

Unfettered capitalism can easily be equated to football with rules. Too many people will get hurt, to the point that no one wants to play, outside of the sadists and psychopaths (maybe a few masochists, too).

In the end, only a few people benefit, with the rest of left behind, both would-be players and the spectators.

Establishing rules for an already elite game doesn't make it pointless, just safer for the average player and more enjoyable for the average spectator.

Rules for capitalism are the same way. Finance is already an elite game, but establishing a better framework of regulations still allows the elite to make most of the money. It also allows the average investor to make thismuch more money with their average investments, resulting in a virtuous cycle.
