Your response made me realize that I neglected to include anything about the human factor in my article. It was all in my head, and I'm actually happy to see the birth rate fall, but re-reading what I wrote made it seem like I thought it was a bad thing.

I don't think it's a bad thing. It's not, and I'm glad you brought this up so I can expand upon my original article.

The goal of the article was to discuss the financial impact of falling birthrates on our nation's social safety nets, and to temper our expectations. The world of our parents and grandparents will not the world of Millennials and younger generations, and we need to prepare for that.

I'll write a follow-up article about the causes and positive impacts of falling birth rates.
