Kicking the can down the road seems to the MO anymore. These systemic issues: housing, climate change, wealth inequality, racism, sexism...they all take years or decades to come to a head.
Then, when we finally reach the tipping point, the response is a combination of a) shock at how we got here and b) a scramble to find a quick fix, shoring things up until just past the next election.
It's exhausting to see how many times this cycle repeats itself across the various issues, with reactionary half-measures as the only agreed upon solutions.
