Thanks for the response, and you are right on target with this. Humanity has lived anywhere from the Phoenix valley to northern Siberia, all with varying degrees of success.
The overall plan for any climate was for us to adapt to the land, weather, precipitation, etc., not to subjugate the natural system just so we can have turf grass to throw a barbecue.
That's the hubris I mention, and even in the face of the new reality, we are still trying to keep things how they were rather than adapting to what was the original climate of the region.
