The NFL’s New Face Shield is Peak Gaslighting

This proves that the NFL is all about the money…and nothing else.

The NFL recently released the design of a new face shield for players’ helmets. The design supposedly redirects exhaled breath from going straight out in front of the player. Rather, the breath, and more specifically the droplets possibly containing the coronavirus, is redirecting through slits or around the shield entirely.

There are airways and openings on the mouth shield but none that allow the direct transmission of droplets, according to the chair of the NFL’s engineering committee, Dr. Jeff Crandall.

“Clear plastic with slits or holes in it that block any direct path of a droplet, but do promote air flow, communication, soundwaves,” he said.

Sounds good, right?

But let’s put this in perspective using just the offensive and defensive lines. The average size of a lineman in 2015 was 6’ 5”, 312 pounds. In other words, these are big boys taking big breaths.

And these men are not just having an ordinary conversation across a table at a restaurant. These are elite, world class athletes, wiling their bodies to perform feats of strength (that take a lot of oxygen) that most of us would have a tough time comprehending, much less…
