Thomas, it sounds like you have mistaken the tone of the article. It’s not complaining, merely reflecting that a $100,000 income is not the gateway to financial freedom so many people might think it is.
Yes, having kids is a choice, but paying taxes to fund schools is not.
If you are childless, then you have a slightly merited, but altogether ill-informed complaint against paying taxes for schools.
If you do have kids, then you have a very large complaint against the mandated taxes not providing a quality education, which forces your hand. Accept the crappy education, or accept the cost of private school tuition.
If I’m complaining about anything, it’s the lack of proper deployment of my tax dollars. A concern that you seem to share, albeit for separate reasons.
